36 Lakh Stranded Migrants headed towards home In 2,600 Shramik Specials In Next 10 Days
Seeing the increased rush of stranded passengers during the lockdown, Indian Railways has decided to run around 2,600 Shramik Special trains to carry about 36 lakh migrants back to their homes in the coming 10 days.
The schedule for The Shramik Specials for the next 10 days will start from Union Territories and various states including Delhi, Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Goa, Gujarat, Haryana, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Punjab, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh.
And the 16 destination states are Assam, Bihar, Gujarat, Jammu and Kashmir, Karnataka, Odisha, Manipur, Uttar Pradesh, Tripura, Rajasthan, Kerala, Jharkhand, Uttarakhand, Tamil Nadu, Chhattisgarh, and West Bengal.
Board (CRB) VK Yadav said the around 279 trains ran on 20th May apart from that 265 and 256 trains ran on 21 and 22 May respectively.
A large number of trains headed towards Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, a significant number of trains have moved towards Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand, Odisha, Rajasthan, and Assam.
According to railway data around 1,246 Shramik Specials started to reach Uttar Pradesh on the other hand 804 have reached Bihar, 112 trains in Madhya Pradesh, 136 trains in Jammu and Kashmir and 124 in Jharkhand.
Shramik Special service was launched on May Day for transporting migrant workforce, students, tourists, and other passengers in the lockdown back to their hometowns.
